Director of Sales

About Transcends:

At Transcends our aim is to be the #1 strategic agency servicing the technology channel; our moonshot is to help 1 billion people feel more connected. In our 6th year of business, we have grown, year-on-year, by at least 50% every year. We have ambitious growth targets, and we are seeking the right sales leader to help us continue to achieve these targets. Our primary geographic markets are the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK.

A fully remote team, we help technology clients solve difficult challenges with solutions that include marketing, events and advisory services.

About the role:

The Director of Sales is a new leadership role, reporting to the CEO, who is responsible for the revenue of the company across major service areas of marketing, events and advisory. The Director of Sales will lead the sales team, currently consisting of 3 people with approved budget for 2 additional hires within 2024. This role is right for you if….
  • You are an experienced people leader who is skilled at providing career growth opportunities.
  • You have a track record of meeting and exceeding ambitious sales targets in a growth environment – our 2024 sales target is $5M USD and we plan for 50% growth year on year.
  • You know professional services and have experience landing consultative deals of $250K+; agency experience is a bonus.
  • You have worked in the technology industry and understand channel marketing and how to partner with a hyperscaler like Microsoft, AWS and/or Google Cloud.

Key responsibilities:

  • Sales targets: You will be responsible for both new and recurring business, attainment of quarterly and annual sales targets. You may personally carry a quota in addition to the sales team.
  • Hiring and team structure: You will be responsible for structuring the sales function of the business and for hiring, onboarding, and developing a higher-performance sales team.
  • Compensation plans: You will refine and roll out an incentive structure, including commission plans, across the sales team and potentially cross-functional teams across the organization. You will also maintain and report on this incentive plan.
  • Pricing and sales enablement: You will lead our pricing strategy and enable our sales team with this strategy. This will include the development and refinement of rate cards, our token model (Content Credits), and how to quote bespoke projects. You will innovate how we price, taking best practices from the professional services industry on services packaging, design thinking and proposal creation.
  • Sales tools: You will own our internal sales tooling including out CRM system, Hubspot. Other sales tool currently in use include templated work requests (also know as SOWs), templated proposals, templated NDAs and a Content Credit System.

Package and benefits:

  • $140,000 – $180,000 + uncapped commission
  • Annual company retreat

  • $350 annual technology allowance after 12 months of employment
  • $500 annual learning allowance after 3 months of employment
  • Contract or full time employee position
  • Extended health benefits for Canadian full-time employees
  • At this time, we can only offer a W-9 contractor position for US applicants.

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field preferred. Or, 10+ years of related experience.
  • 5+ years of sales leadership experience, ideally in the professional services industry servicing technology clients.
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets, both individually and as the leader of a sales team.
  • Knowledge of the channel ecosystem a strong bonus, especially experience with Microsoft partnerships.
  • Hands-on leader with a strategic growth mindset, willing and able to lead initiatives like pricing, tooling and team development. You own the sales function.
  • Technical proficiency with CRM systems and other sales tools. Our CRM is Hubspot.

You will be responsible for:

  • Maximizing pipeline generation attributed to hyperscaler relationships.
  • Drive net new prospects through the sales process to close deals and meet sales targets.
  • Grow our current client accounts.
  • Lead engagements, build influence and serve as the lead point of contact with C-suite technology executives to identify strategic growth opportunities.
  • Build strong, long-lasting client and partner relationships to grow our business & deliver on expectations.
  • Guide clients through the opportunities of partnering with hyperscalers.
  • Work with the CEO and sales team to grow our brand and market share globally.
  • Key performance metrics: sales targets.

About you

  • 6+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience at, or working very closely with, one of the following: Microsoft, AWS, GCP.
  • Strong relationship with the enterprise tech community across North America and globally.
  • Strong marketing knowledge.
  • Excel in a remote work, fast-paced team environment.
  • Passionate about technology. You keep up to date with the industry news and latest developments.
  • An experienced sales professional with a proven track record of meeting targets, acquiring and building new business.
  • Highly adaptive and proficient across a variety of digital tools like HubSpot, Asana, Harvest and Microsoft Teams.
  • Passionate about learning. A university degree (or equivalent) in business or marketing.
  • You are a natural leader and influencer. You know how to get the best out of others.
  • Demonstrated excellence at cultivating and nurturing key client relationships.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Lives in Canada
  • CAD $90-105,000 base salary, plus uncapped commission (expected OTE $150,000 +).
